TALITHA & JOE
The garden party of all garden parties on a private property in the heart of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, creating these florals for Talitha and Joe was one of the highlights of 2023. Their ceremony was under a beautiful tree with just a handful of guests, then the rest of the guests arrived for cocktail hour and party time, held on an island in the middle of the property surrounded by a flowing creek and lush gardens.
For the florals, we were given a fairly-open ended green light to create whatever we wanted to create, so long as we incorporated some modern cottage-core, spring blooms, garden-party vibes, country disco and a few other genres. Talitha wanted to grow some of the flowers herself, so we were guided by what her garden provided for us the week of their wedding and built the floral foundations from there. From her garden we harvested apricot and pink zinnias, white and pink cosmos, some larkspur, queen anne’s lace, flowering jasmine, among other things.
The only thing I knew going in was that I wanted her home-grown florals to be present in the ceremony, and the rest just flowed from there. We designed some truly spring florals on the guest tables with assorted ceramic vases and grouped poppies, cosmos, forget-me-nots, tulips, lilacs, sweet peas, zinnias, canterbury bells and ranunculus. We created floral pillars in a very unique and rambling garden style to frame the ceremony, here we added delphinium, arum lilies, Irish bells, garden roses, and sweet william. Talithas bouquet, she wanted it to be quite minimalistic and modern, petite yet also a standout on it’s own. We had some inspiration images of clematis bouquets, however the timing wasn’t right (and even maybe the climate here) so to get a similar feel, we reduced the ingredients list to just four floral elements - tulips, ammi majus, sweet peas and trailing star jasmine. It was lightweight and suited her dress absolutely perfectly. We love a minimalist bouquet! We then created a floral meadow on the corner of the dance floor for the island, among many other floral details included on the day!
I could honestly and emphatically rave about this day for hours and hours, but I’ll let the photos speak for themselves. I hope you find some inspiration here from this organically created floral dream.
